Governor of Hawaii Signs Law Regulating PEOs

Hawaiian professional employer organizations must now register annually with the state and show compliance with labor laws as well as post a $250,000 bond.

The National Association of Professional Employer Organizations reported last week that Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle signed Senate Bill 1062, requiring licensing and operation standards for PEOs.

Hawaiian PEOs must now register annually with the state and show compliance with labor laws as well as post a $250,000 bond, NAPEO reported.

More than 30 PEOs had been operating in Hawaii before the legislation, according to NAPEO.
