Caterpillar Inc. doubled its flexible workforce in 2010, the maker of heavy equipment reported Jan. 27.
The Peoria, Illinois-based company added 11,046 people to its flexible workforce in 2010 for a total of 22,066 people. Caterpillar’s flexible workforce includes workers from employment agencies as well as part-time and temporary Caterpillar employees.
About half of 2010’s increase in flexible workers took place in the U.S.
Caterpillar’s full-time workforce rose by 11.4 percent in 2010 to 104,490.
The company posted revenue of $42.6 billion in 2010.
