HealthPass New York, a nonprofit commercial health insurance exchange, announced this week that it has selected Chicago-based Bswift Inc. to provide exchange technology and services.

Based in New York, HealthPass' membership includes more than 30,000 employees spread among 3,500 small employer clients, according to a statement from the company released Nov. 13.

Bswift will provide HealthPass clients and members with functions and capabilities including reporting tools, dashboards and alerts for employers, as well as shopping tools, decision and enrollment support for employees.

The company's services also include tools for health insurance brokers, including analytics, benchmarking and access to aggregated group data, as well as employer billing, collection and broker commission management tools.

"The complexity involved in operating a functional exchange is often underestimated, but Bswift brings substantial expertise, technology and practical solutions to the table," Vincent C. Ashton, HealthPass' president and CEO, said in the company's statement. "With HealthPass' 13 years of experience, our requirements for our platform were detailed and varied. Bswift confidently demonstrated their ability to routinely exceed those expectations."
