It’s Not All About Becoming a Manager

Commentary: Too often, promotion in organizations is inextricably tied to becoming a manager. And not everyone is cut out for that. By identifying top performers and publicly letting them know that they are extremely valuable to us, we can reward the performance we seek and give individuals the opportunity to continue to grow with our companies as individual contributors or as managers, depending upon their desires and talents.

In its effort to help British businesses prosper, Businesslink.gov.uk includes among its resources “How to Find a Training Provider/Course.” It offers a list that companies anywhere can consider in selecting a training provider or course.
A British government service offers several tools in the area of training, including this one. The point of evaluation, Businesslink.gov.uk says, is to know whether your company’s training is effective and how skills and practices might have improved because of it.
Workplace Literacy is an individual’s ability to read, write and speak in English, and to compute and solve problems at the necessary levels. According to the National Workforce Assistance Collaborative, the most effective workplace literacy programs share the following characteristics.
